On 14th June 2024, our curious and energetic nursery students of BAE Scientia College International, Kaluaggala set out on a delightful educational adventure to the Salawa Rubber Estate. The field visit was part of our commitment to early environmental education, giving our youngest learners a fun and hands-on opportunity to connect with nature.

The children were fascinated to see real rubber trees up close and learn about how rubber milk (latex) is collected. Friendly estate workers gave simple, child-friendly demonstrations on how rubber trees are tapped, how the latex flows out, and how it is carefully gathered in collection cups. The students listened attentively, watched with wide eyes, and asked plenty of questions – a clear sign of their natural curiosity and engagement.

This field trip was designed not only to introduce them to the rubber industry, but also to spark an appreciation for trees, nature, and how things are made in the world around them. It was a perfect mix of learning and adventure in a calm, green environment.

To make the day extra special, the students enjoyed their meals surrounded by nature, sitting in a safe and shaded area under the trees. As a refreshing treat, the school provided fresh king coconuts for the children to drink – a new and exciting experience for many of them. Their joyful reactions to sipping coconut water straight from the shell were priceless!

This memorable day helped our little ones understand the natural world in a meaningful and enjoyable way. A big thank you to the Salawa Rubber Estate staff and our dedicated teachers for making this trip both safe and special.
